Join us for a collaborative art experience! Using a large floor loom, Sally will weave donated objects from you and other members of the community into the tapestry.
Sally Orfgren is a master weaver and editor of the national journal Shuttle Spindle & Dyepot. She's exploring the topic of Materiality: A Tactile Experience with this public demonstration and collaboration.
Suggestions for the public's contributions could certainly be bits of yarn or a piece of loved one's clothing, but it could also be a cattail, straw, feathers, a pipe cleaner, a crayon, a bit of pet hair (like dog's fur or strands from a horse's tail), a piece of wire (from an electrician), some roofing nails (from a carpenter), pumpkin seeds (from a gardener), bits of a letter (from a writer), etc. Unconventional materials that demonstrate someone's personality or profession are okay!
Please note, three-dimensional items to be woven into the cloth must be smaller than a nectarine and larger than a dime based on the loom's width.
The Catherine Dickson Hofman Branch is located in Blairstown on Lambert Rd. off of Rte. 94. The branch offers a children’s area, public computers, and a large public meeting room.
