Richard D Gardner Branch
Meeting RoomExplore the principles of Notan-an essential design concept focused on the balance of positive and negative space-through a hands-on cut paper workshop.
Rooted in Japanese aesthetics, Notan emphasizes the dynamic relationship between light and dark and is foundational to strong visual composition. In this session, participants will learn how to create striking black-and-white designs using simple cutting and folding techniques. Guided demonstrations will introduce core Notan principles, compositional strategies, and pattern development. Participants will then apply these concepts to create their own cut paper compositions. This workshop is suitable for beginners and experienced artists alike. For tweens-adult. Space is limited. Please register everyone in your group participating.
This program is made possible with support from the Richard D Gardner Friends of the Warren County Library.
