An introduction to approaching the college application essay or personal statement.

An introduction to the college application essay or personal statement, particularly relating to the Common Application prompts. We will evaluate the 2026-27 prompts, discuss strategies for selecting topics, examine several successful models, and, given available time, develop potential topics, begin a draft, or work on existing drafts. Future sessions may focus more on later stages in the process.  This program is for high school juniors and seniors.  Please register every student in your group participating.

The Richard D. Gardner Branch (HQ) is located in Belvidere off of Rte. 519. The branch features two public meeting rooms, two study rooms, and a local history/genealogy room.
